Vice President - People
Karina Izaguirre serves as Vice President of People at Preferred Technologies (Pref-Tech), where she leads the company's people strategy, talent development, organizational effectiveness, and culture initiatives. With more than 25 years of human resources leadership experience, Karina brings a proven track record of building high-performing teams and aligning people strategies with business objectives across complex, growth-oriented organizations.
Her career spans a variety of operationally intensive industries, including manufacturing, oilfield services, power generation, and equipment rental services. Throughout her career, Karina has partnered with executive leadership teams to develop scalable workforce strategies, strengthen organizational performance, and support sustainable business growth.
At Pref-Tech, Karina is responsible for fostering a people-first culture that reflects the company's core values while ensuring employees have the support, clarity, and development opportunities needed to succeed. She plays a key role in talent acquisition, leadership development, employee engagement, performance management, and organizational planning as the company continues to grow throughout Texas and beyond.
Karina holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Houston–Clear Lake and is a certified change management practitioner.
Karina lives in Fulshear, Texas, with her husband of more than 26 years. Together, they have raised three adult children and remain actively involved in their family and community. Outside of work, Karina enjoys mentoring and developing future leaders through a women's mentorship group, traveling with her family, and spending time outdoors. She is passionate about helping others reach their potential and believes strong relationships, continuous learning, and service to others are the foundation of both personal and professional success.

What stands out to me is that Lincoln was not perfect; he faced failure, self-doubt, and significant personal loss; yet still became one of the most respected leaders in history. The book reinforces something I deeply believe: true leadership is about doing the right thing, even when it’s difficult or not popular. It also aligns with my belief in personal development and persistence. Lincoln dedicated himself to self-education, even when he had almost no resources, and he experienced repeated failures in both business and politics, losing several races before becoming President of the United States. What sets him apart is that he never quit. His grit and persistence show that with the right mindset and commitment to growth, you can overcome almost any adversity.
