Terry King, who leads the Pref-Tech family in Austin, and I both participate in Vistage to further ourselves as leaders in life and business. Terry had his monthly meeting yesterday. Their speaker shared an amazing image to demonstrate contrasting approaches to attracting and retaining talented individuals. The speaker asked the group of business leaders to visualize their companies as ranches and their employees as cattle on those ranches.
“If your business was a ranch and your team the cattle on it – how would you want them to grow and roam within the confines of your company and how would you ensure that they would stay. You could simply build a fence that would eventually prohibit the growth/movement of your cattle – or your company could be a clear and clean well of water in the middle of the ranch that keeps your cattle coming back to your true values and keeps them fully nourished”
The Pref-Tech Purpose is to, within a family culture, nurture and inspire employees to deliver a high level of craftsmanship and service. We challenge ourselves to keep a “productive, clean well of water” that nourishes our employees. Get rid of the fence and work on the water well!
